What is Ramp Network?
Ramp Network is a UK-based fiat on-ramp and off-ramp service for crypto. Founded in 2017 in London, Ramp is designed for non-custodial wallets and decentralized applications, not centralized exchanges. A wallet or dApp embeds the Ramp widget, and the user buys crypto with a card, bank transfer, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Ramp then delivers the crypto directly to the user’s self-custody wallet address.
MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Brave Wallet, Aave, and several hundred other wallets and dApps integrate Ramp. The service supports 150+ countries and routes fiat through local payment rails — ACH in the US, SEPA Instant in Europe, Faster Payments in the UK, PIX in Brazil, and SPEI in Mexico. The Financial Conduct Authority registers Ramp under the UK Money Laundering Regulations.
Ramp does not hold a custodial wallet. It passes crypto to the user’s wallet immediately on settlement, which is why it is built into self-custody products, not centralized exchanges like CEX.IO.
How to buy Bitcoin and crypto on CEX.IO
CEX.IO supports several funding methods across cards, bank transfers, and e-wallets. The step-by-step guide below covers the general purchase flow.
Step 1: Create and verify your account
Sign up on CEX.IO with your email address and a secure password. After confirming your email, complete identity verification in your account dashboard or through the mobile app.
You will need to:
- Provide basic personal information
- Upload a valid ID document (national ID, driver’s license, or passport)
- Complete any additional checks if prompted
Step 2: Open the Instant Buy section
Log in to CEX.IO and go to the Buy Cryptocurrency tab. Select your fiat currency, enter the amount you want to spend, choose your asset, and click Buy Crypto Instantly to move to the Add Funds page.
Step 3: Select your payment method
On the Add Funds page, choose from the available options: card, e-wallet, or bank transfer. Each method has its own deposit range, fee structure, and processing time. You see the full cost breakdown before confirming.
Step 4: Receive crypto in your CEX.IO Wallet
After your payment is approved, CEX.IO credits the purchased asset to your CEX.IO Wallet. For card and e-wallet payments, this typically happens within seconds. Bank transfers credit after the funds arrive, which varies by transfer type.
Once the crypto is in your CEX.IO Wallet, you can hold it, trade it on Spot Trading, convert it via CEX.IO Convert, or withdraw it to an external wallet.
What payment methods are available at CEX.IO?
CEX.IO supports several direct funding methods, depending on your location and verification level.
Buy crypto with a card
Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards are accepted at CEX.IO to buy bitcoin and other crypto. Deposit fees range from 0.49% to 4.99% plus a service charge, with a minimum deposit of $20. Visa supports withdrawals up to $50,000 per day, while Mastercard withdrawals are capped at $2,500 per day.
Buy crypto with an e-wallet
Apple Pay and Google Pay are available at CEX.IO Instant Buy. Link a Visa or Mastercard to your wallet, confirm the transaction with biometrics, and CEX.IO credits the crypto to your wallet within seconds. The per-transaction deposit cap is $1,000. Withdrawals are not available through e-wallets.
US-based users can also buy crypto with PayPal. Select PayPal at the Add Funds page, link your account, and approve the payment. Deposits range from $20 to $1,000, and withdrawals are supported up to $10,000 per day.
Buy crypto with a bank transfer
Bank transfers carry lower fees and support larger deposit amounts. Depending on your location, the available options are:
- ACH — available for US users at $5 flat, with funds arriving within one to three business days
- SEPA Credit Transfer — available for EU users at €2.99
- Faster Payments — available for UK users at £2.99
- SWIFT — available for international users (check availability for your country before initiating)
Bank transfers fund your CEX.IO account with fiat first. Once the funds arrive, you can convert them into Bitcoin or another asset using Spot Trading or CEX.IO Convert.
Buy crypto with cash
Cash-based options are available if you prefer not to use cards or bank transfers. You can deposit cash at a Bitcoin ATM and send BTC directly to your CEX.IO Wallet. Alternatively, MoneyGram lets you deposit between 10 and 900 USDC per transaction with no deposit fee. Once the funds are credited, you can convert them into your preferred asset.
